Besuch aus der Bretagne
14. April 2026
Themen. Die gemeinsame Arbeitssprache war Englisch. So ist
auch der folgende Bericht entstanden.
On Wednesday evening, the French group arrived at Sinzig train
station. First, we were all a bit nervous and unsure about our
English skills.
On the first evening, the French students were tired, so we
introduced them to the host families, showed them around the
house and had dinner. Then they went to bed.
At school, the next day, we did some icebreaking activities and
the guests from Lamballe accompanied their exchange students
to their classes. After school, we walked to Bad Bodendorf where
we could play football and other games. Thus we got to know
each other better and had fun together.
On Friday there was a trip to Bonn where we visited the museum
of history in the morning. The French group had a guided tour in
French and the German students also had a guided tour. There
was also an English quiz about the exhibition. After that we
walked to he city centre and had some free time together.
The weekend was a highlight for all of us. We met and cooked
together, played games and talked a lot. Some families even
offered trips to visit Koblenz or other activities.
Monday was a special day because oft the „Abistreich“. The
guests from Lamballe had never seen anything like that because
they do not have this kind of fun-day at their school. So they
gladly joined the different activities and were quite impressed.
For lunch there was a German buffet with fingerfood and dishes
offered by the hosting families. On Monday afternoon we did a
rally through Sinzig. In mixed groups we tried to answer different
questions about the history and culture of our home town – in
English, of course. Not only the French students learned more
about Sinzig but the Germans too.
On Tuesday, the participants worked together in groups. The
German and French students prepared different topics and we all
had to do it in English, our common foreign language. For the
presentations of our groups‘ topics, we did some Internet
research and prepared posters or digital presentations. In the
afternoon, we did sports together in our gym. There was a
parcours and we could try climbing. These activities had been
prepared by our sport teachers and it was great to try the
different challenges.
The next highlight was our trip to Cologne on Wednesday, when
we visited the Museum of Chocolate and later the Museum for
Sports and Olympics. We all liked the chocolate museum very
much because we did not only learn about the history of cacao
but we could try chocolate as well.
On the last day, we finished our presentations and showed our
results to the others. In every group and for every topic, it was
obvious that there are differences but also a lot of similarities
between the German and the French culture, school system,
interests and so on.
On Friday morning, it was very difficult for everyone to say
goodbye. We are all very grateful for the great time we had
together and for the activities that our teachers offered. And the
German students are looking forward to the journey to Brittany in
May where we will meet our partners again and get to know their
country and region.
